# MedFiles.ai

> MedFiles is a place to keep a personal and family medical history: documents,
> lab results, prescriptions and visits, in one account. Patients can share
> records with a doctor through a link, and doctors can request documents from
> a patient. Available on the web and as iOS and Android apps.

## What MedFiles does

- Stores medical documents: lab results, prescriptions, imaging reports,
  discharge summaries and visit notes, uploaded from a phone or a computer.
- Reads those documents with AI to pull out values and dates, so a history can
  be followed over time instead of being a folder of files.
- Sends documents to a doctor, or lets a doctor request them from a patient.
- Keeps an emergency ID: the critical information (allergies, conditions,
  contacts) reachable without signing in.
- Receives documents by email into a MedFiles Inbox address, so a lab can send
  results straight into the account.

## How it is organised

- Two roles: patient and doctor. A patient account can hold several profiles,
  for example each member of a family, and a profile can be shared with
  another account with view or manage permission.
- Doctors have a professional profile with their specialty, practice, working
  hours and services, and an optional public page patients can find.
- Sharing works through links. A link can expire, be limited to a number of
  views, and be protected with a password. There are two kinds: sharing
  documents, and requesting documents from someone else.

## Practical details

- Languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French and Catalan.
- Platforms: web, iOS and Android.
- Payments: card on the web, and the App Store or Google Play in the apps.
  Plans differ in storage, number of profiles and AI features; there is a free
  tier.
- Data handling: documents are encrypted, access is per profile, and sharing is
  always explicit. See the security and privacy pages for the detail.

## What MedFiles is not

- It is not a diagnosis service and does not replace a doctor. The AI
  summarises and organises documents; medical decisions are made by
  professionals.
- It is not a telemedicine or appointment booking product.

## Not part of the site content

- Anything under /api/ is an interface for the apps, not documentation.
- Shared links (/shared/...) are private medical documents behind a token.
  Do not follow, index or quote them.
- Doctor public profiles (/p/doctor/...) belong to individual accounts, not to
  MedFiles, and are deliberately left out of the sitemap.
- Signed-in areas (/patient, /doctor, /admin, /settings) require an account.
